ATPL & BTK Ground Courses and Study Support Material |

Ground Courses
The BTK ground course is designed to cover the syllabus requirements of AC61-10 Appendix II (subject 64), and far more, comprising modules covering each of the sub-headings in the AC61 syllabus. You will be provided with a course workbook, a course text, a copy of the old ASL Sample Exam and with teaching sessions on each of the modules, including audio-visual presentations, videos and review questions. The programme also includes a practice examination based on the ASL exams, which is designed to give you a gauge of your knowledge as at the end of the course and to act as a learning focus tool. Please note that it is your responsibility to organise your own sitting of the ASL exam. We recommend you schedule the exam for at least a few days after the end of the course, to give you time to absorb and review the material. Nelson courses are run in conjunction with Nelson Aviation College at Motueka in autumn, winter and spring each year. To book onto one of these courses, please ring Sue at NAC on (03) 5288382. We will run courses in other centres by arrangement and subject to demand.
The ATPL Advanced Aerodynamics, Performance, and Systems Knowledge (Aeroplane) ground course is designed to cover the syllabus requirements of AC61-7 Appendix III (subject 48), and far more, comprising the four main areas of the subject syllabus: Please note that it is your responsibility to organise your own sitting of the ASL exam. The ATPL Flight Planning (Aeroplane) ground course is designed to cover the syllabus requirements of AC61-7 Appendix III (subject 40), and far more, comprising the three main areas of the subject syllabus: Planning Concepts; You will be provided with a course textbook, workbook, a flight planning data booklet, and with teaching sessions on each of the course components, including plenty of practice exercises and review questions. The programme also includes a practice examination based on the ASL exams, which is designed to give you a gauge of your knowledge as at the end of the course and to act as a learning focus tool. Waypoints Aviation, in conjunction with Nelson Aviation College (NAC), is offering a full ATPL(A) ground course of all seven subjects in mid 2012.

Applications will be accepted for individual courses or for the full seven subjects. Student loans funding may be available. NAC is proud to be one of only two flight schools in New Zealand to be able to offer this ATPL Theory Course under the Student Loan Scheme. Fees for the Full Course: The ASL exam fees are additional to the course fees. It is our intention that you will be able to sit each ATPL exam, if you wish, through ASL within a day or two of the course. Students may choose to book their exam at a different time. Please note that places are strictly limited to 30 students only. There has been strong interest in this course, even prior to advertising it. It is highly recommended that you are current at CPL level prior to attending any or all of the modules. The course will be delivered in Nelson at the Tahuna Beach Function Centre (upstairs classroom), 70 Beach Road, Tahunanui, so please make your own bookings for accommodation after deciding which modules you will attend. Tea, coffee and water will be provided at no extra charge. Please bring or purchase your own lunch each day. Each module will start at 10 am on day one to allow for travel time and then 08:30 am for each subsequent day. The course will end at approximately 16:30 each day. Run in conjunction with Nelson Aviation College Motueka, our ITC aims to: * help you to develop your knowledge of how adults learn Learning to become a proficient flying instructor is a classic mixture of theory and practice. You will gain knowledge about a range of subjects from how adults learn, teaching methods and the use of training aids, through to questioning and assessment techniques. You will be given the opportunity to put as much of the presentation skills into practice as time allows, and you will also be given the opportunity to develop professional attitudes towards your craft. The ATPL Air Law study guide is designed to cover the syllabus requirements of AC61-7 Appendix III (subject 36), and to assist you in developing your knowledge and understanding of the rules which guide and limit New Zealand’s air transport operations. The study guide also provides you with a glossary of many of the terms and abbreviations you will encounter in learning about flight planning in an airline context.
